A 21-year-old American tourist has died after she was attacked by three sharks Wednesday while she was snorkeling in the Bahamas, according to multiple reports.

Jordan Lindsey, 21, was on a snorkeling excursion with her family around 2 p.m. Wednesday when she was attacked by three tiger sharks, Royal Bahamas Police Force Deputy Commissioner Paul Rolle said.

Lindsey’s family had seen the sharks approaching and tried to warn her, but she did not hear them in time, Rolle said. According to Rolle, her right arm was bitten off. She was also bitten on her arms, legs and buttocks.

Lindsey was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. She was the only victim of the attack.

“The Ministry of Tourism, on behalf of the Government and the people of The Bahamas expresses its condolences and deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of the victim of Wednesday’s shark attack off Rose Island, near New Providence,” Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation officials said in a statement, according to KABC.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for the transport of Lindsey’s body from the Bahamas back to California and to help with other funeral costs, KABC reported.
