Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A woman snorkeling near a pier off Isla Mujeres was hit by a boat Thursday afternoon.

The 25-year-old identified only as Hansen, was a tourist to the island. The accident happened around 5:00 p.m. at the base of a pier of an island hotel. The woman said after she was hit, she was helped out of the water and placed on the pier by those from the boat that allegedly hit her. They then left the scene.

Witnesses were not able to positively identify the boat. The woman suffered an injury to her leg and hand. Paramedics arrived and transferred her to a Cancun hospital.
