A 66-year-old Missouri man died Thursday when he lost consciousness about 300 feet from shore off Olowalu Landing during a snorkeling trip, police said.

He was identified as Leo Warren Jr. of Wildwood.

Attempts to revive him started when he was taken aboard a boat and continued by U.S. Coast Guard personnel transporting the man to Maalaea Harbor, police said.

Police responded to the harbor at 10:57 a.m.

An autopsy has been scheduled.
