Karen Zaslow, 69, was snorkeling on Sand Key at approximately 2:30 p.m. She was with the charter boat “Floridays” before she began struggling in the water. Zaslow was then taken to the shore by the U.S.

KEY WEST, Fla.– A Key West woman died Thursday, March 10 after a snorkeling incident off Key West.

Karen Zaslow, 69, was snorkeling on Sand Key at approximately 2:30 p.m. She was with the charter boat “Floridays” before she began struggling in the water.

Zaslow was then taken to the shore by the U.S. Coast Guard. Despite rescue crews’ efforts, she was pronounced dead later at Lower Keys Medical Center.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said foul play is not expected to be a factor in the incident.
