– A person scuba diving in Lake Monroe earlier this week came across a submerged vehicle that had a body inside.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office got a call the scuba diver who was in the quarry around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, and came across a car on its roof on the quarry floor in about 25 feet of water.

Dive team members went to the scene and found the car with a body inside. The car was removed from the scene and the remains have been sent to the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office.

During the dive we're told authorities also found a second car about 30 or 40 feet away. This car was determined to have been stolen out of the City of Monroe.

Authorities didn't have any other information at this time about the first car or the body.
