“The family needs community support to help financially with unexpected costs, funeral expenses and immediate needs for the family,” organizers of the GoFundMe page wrote. “The loss of a husband and father has been devastating.”
While in his 30s, Jinkins had survived a battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma, but because of his medical condition only able to obtain a small life insurance, the organizers wrote.
“Many of us can identify with how difficult it will be to go from a two to one family income,” said the organizers. “The funds raised will help cover the funeral arrangements and provide support to his wife and children for their immediate needs.”
To donate, visit the GoFundMe Page.
Jinkins is not the first Westfield resident to die while snorkeling on vacation. In 2014, Alexa DiGiorgio, 42, died while snorkeling in Hanauma Bay in Hawaii.
