A California visitor remains in critical condition after snorkeling in waters off ‘Anini Beach on Wednesday.
The man, 29, was snorkeling when he was seen unresponsive in the water, according to witness reports, Kauai fire officials said today. Witnesses then brought him to shore and began administering CPR.
Lifeguards were first on scene after they were notified at around 1:30 p.m. and continued CPR.
“While in transport to Wilcox Hospital, responding firefighters and AMR medics continued advanced life support and the man regained a pulse,” Kauai fire officials said in a news release.
Volunteers from Life’s Bridges, a grief counseling service, are helping the man’s family.
