PADI, a purpose-driven organisation with a global presence spanning 6,600 dive centers and resorts, and Klook, the sole Online Travel Agency (OTA) in Asia Pacific partnering with PADI, have joined forces to simplify and streamline the process of becoming a certified PADI Scuba Diver. This collaboration aims to present an extensive selection of diving opportunities available for booking on Asia’s leading platform, Klook.
On the 9th of November, 2023, PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) and travel and experiences platform Klook announced a worldwide partnership that will integrate PADI’s array of diving products into Klook’s platform, as a means of increasing accessibility of scuba diving certifications and experiences.
The idea of integrating over 7,200 PADI diving products on Klook’s platform is to simplify what was once a prolonged and complex process, involving meticulous planning, coordination, and negotiations, will now be condensed to a simple, user-friendly journey lasting just under five minutes. Klook says that through its platform, consumers can compare prices, check availability, peruse reviews, and promptly confirm their bookings.
Manuel Kraemer, Vice President of Business Development for PADI Worldwide, expressed enthusiasm about this partnership, highlighting its potential to significantly simplify the path to becoming a certified PADI Scuba Diver.
The partnership arrives at a time when there’s a growing interest among young Asian travelers in nature-based experiences and outdoor activities. The statistics indicate a surge in the number of new PADI certified divers in countries like China, Japan, and Korea. Projections suggest that by 2024, the Asia Pacific diving tourism industry will not only fully recover but surpass its 2019 market size, with revenue expected to grow at a rate of 12.2% annually until 2030.
Chuan Sheng (C.S.) Soong, VP of Corporate Development at Klook, emphasised the joint endeavor’s mission to extend access to the diving community, enhancing the travel platform’s offerings with a focus on creating distinctive and comprehensive experiences for customers.
Additionally, aligned with their commitment to underwater exploration and conservation, PADI and Klook have introduced UNIVER-SEA-TY, a program designed to inspire newcomers to dive. As a starting gesture, 33 winners will have the opportunity to earn an Open Water Diver certification at their chosen dive location with PADI.
