FLEMING ISLAND, FL – Anthony (Tony) Joseph Reno, age 50, entered eternal life August 12, 2023, while scuba diving in South Carolina.
Tony was born September 28th 1972 in Ishpeming, Mi. He is the son of Chris and the late Joseph Reno. He grew up in Marquette and graduated from Marquette Sr. High School in 1990. The day after graduation he started working for Spear and Sons Lumber Co. Eventually he started his career as a corrections officer at Marquette Branch Prison. Tony worked there for 15 yrs. Also at that time he was a volunteer firefighter for the Skandia fire dept. Tony’s love for firefighting lead him and his wife Terri to Charleston, S.C., where he became a Charleston City firefighter. He rode his bike with other members of the fire dept 600 miles honoring fallen first responders. During this time he also started up a lawn care business. From there he worked at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center. He went on to become a deputy sheriff and a member of the search and rescue dive team. Tony and Terri moved to Fleming Island, Florida and he became a police officer at Plantation Oaks Elementary School.
He had a master diver certification and also a captains license for boating.
Tony is survived by his wife; Terri, stepchildren; Jain (Keith) Gicker and Joel Demerse, grandchildren; Jameson and Alexander, his mom; Chris (Glen Alexander) sister; Tammy Reno, also survived by father-in-law; Charles Henderson sisters-in-law; Patti (Terry) Watts and June (Kenny) Robison along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Tony is preceded in death by his father; Joseph Reno, his aunt; Dianne Pleaugh, cousin; Jessica Pleaugh, uncle; Steve Reno and his grandparents; Don and Carol Green and Allan and Jeanette Reno.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Marquette Mi., after the funeral at First Baptist Church in Middleburg, FL is held.
