This may be one of the dumbest things I’ve read about. A man visiting the beautiful islands of Hawaii signed up to go snorkeling. I’ve never been to Hawaii, but I have no doubt this would be a memorable and beautiful experience. One thing may be problematic though: if you can’t swim, snorkeling might be a problem. A man who signed up to go snorkeling wants a refund because he didn’t know you had to be able to swim to go snorkeling.
According to Bored Panda, a man on vacation in Hawaii left a very angry comment and a one-star review on an agency’s website. He says the company’s website was misleading, not stating that you had to be able to swim to go snorkeling. The agency told the man he wouldn’t be able to participate, and the man got upset.
Now, if you’re unfamiliar with snorkeling, it’s in the WATER! You put a mouthpiece in your mouth, and swim under water to look at the amazing sea life. If you Google snorkeling, it explains what the activity entails.
The agency pointed out to the man that in the description on their website, it states that you must be able to swim 50 yards. Guess the man missed that. The instructor also says the man was ‘extremely panicky’ and not able to go underwater. So THAT would rule out snorkeling. The man says he thought the guide would aid him through the water. And I’m sure they’re helpful but you can’t have someone in the water that can’t swim and is afraid of the water.
The man was expecting the guide to teach him how to swim and found out that wasn’t what snorkeling entailed. His spouse went on the underwater tour, and the man had to sit on the beach for an hour. This added to his anger. The tour guide told the man he was sorry, but he couldn’t risk the man’s safety by bringing him in the water when he couldn’t swim.
Additionally, the company, Tropical Snorkeling, mentions on their website that if you are afraid of the water, it might get in your way of enjoying your first-time snorkeling. The site then gives advice on how to become comfortable in the water. And still this guy was upset.
This is mean but I’m gonna say it anyway: if I was this man’s spouse, I’d reconsider the relationship. Obviously, this man is a dumbass! I’m not the only one that thinks that. Folks online commented about how dumb the guy is not knowing exactly what he signed up for. And folks were amazing he had the gall to ask for a refund.
PSA of the day: before signing up for an activity you’ve never participated in, do some research!
