PORT HURON, MI (WNEM) –
A Michigan mom is hoping the power of social media can reunite a couple with their long lost wedding band.
Linda Park said her nine-year-old son, Ben, was snorkeling in Lake Huron on July 1 when he found a wedding band at Lakeside Beach in Port Huron.
"I was, like, snorkeling with my goggles all the way down and I saw something shiny," Ben said.
Park posted a photo of the ring on Facebook hoping to find the owner. The post has been shared more 77,000 times.
The band has silver and gold tones with the initials “K + L” engraved in it. There’s also an inscription with the ring company’s name inside, which only the rightful owner would know.
Park said the experience has turned into a great life lesson for her family by showing you can do the right thing through the power of social media.
“My hope is that there is a happy ending and that you are reunited with your ring. If the ring brings you painful memories, remember the love and fond times you once had,” Park wrote.
The ring has now been turned over to Port Huron Police Department.
